Understanding human papillomavirus, or HPV, allows parents to make informed and educated decisions about their child’s future reproductive health. HPV is the most common sexually transmitted infection (STI). Most people will be infected with this virus at some point during their adult lives.
Sounds scary, doesn’t it?
No fear. Often the body clears the virus without the person ever being aware of the infection. However, while the person is blissfully unaware of the infection, they continue to spread and share the virus to their sexual partners.
Unfortunately, HPV is not always benign. Warts and several types of cancers, including cervical, are caused by the virus.
If you knew there was a vaccine against certain cancers, would you be interested in learning more?
